Baran Ertem is a house & techno DJ from Istanbul, based in Paris. He started his music education at an early age with cello and classical theory. Soon after that, electronic music found him and never let him go.
When he entered a DJ booth for the first time at only 12, it hit him that he had to make some room for electronic music in his life. But Baran’s journey truly began two years later, when he used a software for the first time ever. He would listen to trance, big room, and even try to DJ on his MP3-player. His friends would call him DJ iPod. His style then took its final shape after a visit to Amsterdam in 2014. Artists like Joris Voorn, Nin Fanciulli and many more would thus join
his previous influences, who included Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Axwell.
Besides his own productions, Baran’s sets are punchy with a heavy kick and solid bass, which he compliments with airy melodies and syncopated percussion. His sets are crafted to develop their own character and reveal a bit of Baran himself as he mixes heartwarming melodies with powerful kicks and disco/tech-house/techno grooves in his own, very unique way. His ambition is to remind us that electronic music is not only about dancing, but also about connecting and
feeling.
